Sometimes funny things happen and I’ll think it’s a sign you’re sending me and then doubt myself. Other times, I don’t doubt it’s a sign at all because it’s just so bizarre, only you would be so clever from the dimension or realm you’re in.
I’ve been asking you for a specific sign. You know the one. You loved to tell that story… I assume you’re cooking up something undeniable. Go on– and don’t be lazy about it. I’m expecting something grandiose!
I got a real kick out of your latest nod to my distaste for country music. I don’t know what it is 🤷🏻♀️ my ears don’t vibe well with the country genre. I just don’t like it and I don’t have to.
You were eavesdropping on my conversation at work about the country radio station getting on my last nerve, weren’t you?
I’m not sure why I was in such a sour mood that day, but when I got into my car after work I was feeling really anxious for no reason and wanted to listen to Taylor Swift. Specifically “Mad Woman” from her Folklore album. There isn’t anything specific about the song or even it’s lyrics. I was just pissy about nothing in the moment and that’s the slow jam I settled on. Of course, I’m a Swifty! Especially now that she’s not so country. Plus, having a daughter, how can I not love her?
When I pressed the talk button on my steering wheel I said, “Play Mad Woman”, assuming my hooptie would know me by now and that I wanted the song “Mad Woman” by Taylor Swift which I have on my iPhone— that was playing through Apple CarPlay. Well, hooptie heard “Play Mad Woman Radio on Pandora”. (Of course a channel with such a title exists. G-d damn it! See… now I’m mad, Woman!! 🤬)
As I drove, I waited impatiently while Pandora was searching for a signal — that’s Oregon for you— it was quiet and I was stewing for no reason at all besides the fact that I wanted Tay Tay and I wanted her bad! Still searching… still waiting… still quiet!
The music finally starts and it’s not Tay at all. It’s a familiar song though, with only a slight country twang. One I have deemed acceptable. Kacey Musgraves singing “3 Little Birds”. (See Dear Friends and Family post from March 2, 2024.)
Well played friend! I look forward to seeing what you send me next.
I’ve been meaning to make a note to ask if there is something significant with unicorns. I’ve been seeing unicorns everywhere. More like they’ve been brought to my attention or somehow in my eyeline.
Dan and I were looking at cards for P’s birthday and he showed me one with a unicorn on it. I told him she hadn’t been into unis for some time— these days she prefers Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina 1’s to a mythical horse with a horn.
Then—another day— I was having ice cream minding my own business when I looked up from my tasty treat and saw this skosh of sunshine winking at me. Nobody else was there, the wink was for me.
What’s up with that? Seriously, I see unicorns everywhere since you’ve been gone.
Also, did we name the horse in the next lot over from your house “Sparky” because of the movie Vacation or was his name truly Sparky? Riddle me that from your new realm.
